Billy Morrison guitar gear - Gibson Darkfire

The guitar that everyone is talking about, the guitar that suppose to revolutionise the way we think about the guitar. The Gibson Darkfire is released, the self-tuning guitar, and not only self-tuning it can tune itself to alternate tunings aswell, such as "Keith Richards tuning". Some argue that the guitar isn't revolutionary at all, I, like many others, noticed that it existed before. Jimmy Page had a self tuning guitar, which tuned itself at the bridge (instead of the headstock like the Darkfire), the tuning mechanism was made by Transperformance. I remember when I saw a video clip of Jimmy Page changing the tuning mid song, crazy stuff. (review continued below clip.....)



Now the Darkfire is released, and Billy Morrison from the Cult seems to like it. He says it probably won't replace traditional non-selftuning guitars, but it has it's place in his rig now. Maybe one day when the guitar virtuso in the world can find something revolutionary to do with this mechanism it will be come essential, who knew the trem would be essential to so many guitar songs now, and who could have imagined the strat trem would turn into the monster that is the Floyd trem where you can beat it to a pulp and your guitar will still stay in tune.
